UARA Late Models with Local Classes running this Saturday at the Dillon Motor Speedway May 18th.Come out and See some of the Local Late Model drivers take on the Stars of the UARA Late Model Series! The Next Race at Dillon Motor Speedway is May 18th! Points races in the support classes UCAR, Street Stock and Chargers! This is the Last Weekend to qualify for the Dream of a Lifetime because points are underway! Drivers in the support classes who compete in every point’s race this season will have a chance to win a drive in a Late Model sponsored by RacewayAutomotive.com during the final weekend of the Dillon Motor Speedway’s schedule in 2013.

Divisions that are eligible for the unique experience include the Mini Cups, Pure Stock Four Class (UCAR), Street Stocks and Chargers. The season points championship starts in May and runs through September, and each driver will have one mulligan for the year in case they can’t attend a specific event.

“This is a chance for a lucky qualified driver to get behind the wheel of a high-horse powered late model racecar that he/she may not either have enough funds to drive on their own or if perhaps a driver is thinking about having a great experience driving a Late Model on the familiar Dillon Motor Speedway,” track owner Ron Barfield said. “The Late Model division is our premier series, and we wanted to give our local drivers a chance to experience the thrill, and live the dream.”

Any qualified driver in the support classes that competes in all the point races events will be eligible for the drawing on the frontstretch during the last points race in September. During that time, names will be pulled out of a random drawing, and the lucky winner will have an all-expense paid weekend at the speedway as he/she competes in a Late Model during one of the biggest events of the season in October.

“We were thinking of ways that we can reward the drivers who are dedicated to our facility week after week,” Ron Barfield said. “Not only will this be a dream ride for one of our locals, but it’ll help move the speedway forward for future promotions.”

This weekend will feature the UARA Late Models, Chargers, “Old Fashioned” Street Stock, UCAR Pure Stock. Come out and see some of the Local Late Model Drivers take on the Stars of the UARA Series. Cars have been testing all week getting ready for this BIG race weekend!

Ryan Hall, Late Models

Dillon, S.C., May 8, 2013: Dillon Motor Speedway kicked off the point’s season on Saturday, May 4 during Darlington Raceway Night.

Ryan Hall visited Victory Lane for the second weekend in a row in the Late Model division after battling runner-up Archie Adams Jr. and third place finisher Justin Hicks throughout the entire night. North Carolinian Greg Peterson finished a close fourth, and Jason Clark rounded out the top-five.

While leading all 25 laps, William Haynie from Darlington, S.C. took the checkered flag in his first Charger race of the season. Michael Williamson and Brad Dewitt battled Haynie all night long for the lead, but they both came up short finishing second and third respectively. Todd Amerson had a very strong run with a fourth place finish. Neal Anderson also had an impressive run while crossing the finish line in fifth.

Jeff Melton captured his second win in a row this past weekend as well after leading all 25 laps in the Four Cylinder feature. Charles Hutto and Ricky Locklair Sr. rounded out the top-3 after a long hard battle to chase down Melton. Kyle Lynch captured his first top-five of the season when he crossed the line in the fourth position. Justin Altman finished fifth.

The final laps in the Mini Cup Stock feature certainly had the fans on their feet when leader Chris Conner smacked the wall in the final laps. Bill Willis, defending Carolina Eastern Mini Cup Association champion drove past the damaged car of Connor’s to take the checkered flag. Runner-up Steve Chauncey was right on Willis’ back bumper on the final lap, but he was unable to make the pass for the lead. Anthony Bryant, Mini Cup Dash winner finished third. Scott Brooks finished fourth, and Jessica Poland rounded out the top-five.

Andy Norton won the Pure Four Stock class after dominating the feature. Rob Ward finished second, Jason Beck third and Josh Youmans finished fourth.

ASA-sanctioned, Dillon Motor Speedway will be back in action on Saturday, May 18 as the United Auto Racing Association (UARA) heads to Dillon County. Joining the traveling Late Models series includes the fan favorite Carolina Vintage cars and the local Charger and Street Stock cars.

Continue reading »]]> Thanks to all the race teams for the great turnout of cars at the Dillon Motor Speedway this past Saturday Night! The fans and race teams endured the weather to get all the racing completed before the rains came. Congrats to the Winners! Ryan Hall won the Late Model $1200 Check and Trophy for his second win of the season.  A dozen Charger cars took the green flag and William Hainey picked up his first win of the season and the $400! Jeff Melton took his Ford Thunderbird to victory lane in the $300 to Win Street Stock race. Bill Willis took the lead in the Mini Cup Race with only a handful of laps to win. The New Pure Stock 4 class was won by Andy Norton in his FWD Prelude for 1st race of the year.  Again Thanks to all the Teams and Fans that made Dillon Motor Speedway the place to be to see some Great Saturday Night Racing!

Continue reading »]]> Dillon, S.C., April 24, 2013: After hosting various traveling series, Dillon Motor Speedway opened the gates for the first time this season for the local drivers.

It was a rare site when Jeff Melton drove his Ford manufactured Street Stock to Victory Lane on Saturday night, because a Ford has never won in the division since the speedway reopened back in 2007. Ricky Locklair Jr. displaying a brand new No. 25 car finished runner-up. His father Ricky Locklair Sr. finished right behind him in fourth, and Charles Hutto who’s a regular competitor in the annual New Year’s Day race rounded out the top-five.

Ryan Hall beat defending Late Model champion Archie Adams Jr. to the line to pick up the first victory of the season. Greg Peterson finished third after making the trip all the way from Cabarrus County in North Carolina. Justin Hicks who won a number of races last season finished fourth, and Jamey Lee finished fifth.

The wild Mini Cup feature ended when Matt Corbett took the checkered flag with Chris Connor right on his back bumper. Two-time defending Carolina Eastern Mini Cup Association champion Bill Willis rounded out the top-three. Steve Chauncey finished fourth, and newcomer Anthony Bryant had an impressive showing as he captured a top-five finish. Matt Corbett also won the second Mini Cup feature, followed by Bill Willis, Steve Chauncey, Chris Connor and Anthony Bryant.

The Pee Dee Super Trucks have already had one event this season that was held back on April 6 when they joined the X-1R Pro Cup Series. After taking the checkered flag this past weekend, Hal Goodson so far has swept all Super Truck races that have been run in 2013. Kevin Parsons kicked off his season off on a high note as he finished second. Jake Vuncannon had an extremely strong run finishing fifth, just ahead of high school student, Hayes Goodson. Archie Adams Jr. rounded out the top-five.

Brian Owens won the Charger feature. Archie Adams Jr. finished second, his third top-five of the night. Brad Dewitt earned his first top-three finish of the season. Youngster Duncan Grant had a strong fourth place run, and Will Hutson finished fifth.

On Saturday, May 4, ASA-sanctioned, Dillon Motor Speedway will host Darlington Raceway Night. The Late Models will be competing for double points. Joining will be the Chargers, UCAR-Stock 4, Street Stocks and Mini Cup Stocks.
